Infor O&R Cloud Migration

Moving Infor O&R from on-premises to multi-tenant cloud.

Agencies running Infor Operations and Regulations, formerly Infor Public Sector (IPS) and Hansen, are moving to Infor's multi-tenant cloud. Most of the configuration comes across. The parts that do not are predictable, and finding them before the move is far cheaper than finding them after go-live.

What Changes

Eight things that work differently in multi-tenant cloud.

Custom DLLs stop working

Multi-tenant cloud does not allow uploading or calling external assemblies, including Reference External Method calls and Rest Services DLL extensions. That logic is rebuilt as Library formulas in VB.NET.

No direct database access

Custom SQL in formulas and Schema Manager views are on-premises only. Query builders over business objects still run, and agency tables remain available.

Formulas run in a sandbox

Cloud formulas run against an allow-list. Calls such as file access, external methods and DateTime. Now are blocked and need supported replacements. A formula that passes the check can still fail if it looks up roles, codes or variables by name that the new tenant does not have.

SSRS and Crystal reports are rebuilt

Each SSRS or Crystal report is mapped to a cloud report type, such as Ad Hoc, a Formula report, an IDM Word template, Infor Reporting or Birst, and sized before the move.

Integrations move to ION API Gateway

Outbound and inbound integrations go through the ION API Gateway with OAuth 2.0, configured REST endpoints, ION, and SFTP file interfaces instead of a local Rest Services server.

Batch Manager and time zones

Until the tenant time zone is set, Batch Manager jobs run on UTC, so scheduled jobs can start hours early. The fix is a tenant setting followed by a refresh of all applications.

Configuration moves differently

Definition Manager transfers carry tables, formulas, roles and configuration but not menus, and Infor's supported cloud route for configuration packages is changing. Plan the moves early.

Twice-yearly releases

Infor ships cloud feature releases in April and October. New features arrive behind toggles and become default, then mandatory, over the following year, so testing becomes a routine, not a project.

Readiness Review

How a readiness review works.

01

Inventory

Collect the catalog, formulas, security, custom code and reports from your current environment.

02

Classify

Sort every item: runs as is, needs a mechanical change, gets rebuilt with a cloud feature, needs redesign, or is no longer needed.

03

Check formulas

Run every formula against the cloud allow-list rules and read the clean ones for names the new tenant may not have.

04

Map reports

Map each report to a supported cloud report type and size the rebuild.

05

Review access

Review roles and rights so security carries over intentionally, not by accident.

06

Plan

Deliver a written readiness report with the findings and effort estimates, built from your actual configuration.

Much of this review is automated with the Orchestra, which reads the configuration itself so the plan reflects your system rather than a generic checklist. It complements the migration plan from Infor or your implementation partner; it does not replace it. For on-premises O&R agencies, this review is offered as a complimentary assessment.

Migration Support

Before, during and after the move.

Before the move

  • A readiness review built from your actual configuration, with findings and effort estimates.
  • Every formula checked against the cloud allow-list rules, and every report mapped to a supported cloud report type.
  • Custom DLL logic identified for rebuild as Library formulas in VB.NET.
  • Each route into multi-tenant cloud planned with its own checks: an Infor tenant refresh, SaaS Migration from on-premises, or configuration only. The Infor OS side, such as roles, ION and Mongoose items, is planned as its own track, since a tenant copy does not carry it.

During the move

  • Configuration compared between environments row by row, with only the changes you approve moved across.
  • The target re-read after each move to confirm every row landed.
  • Formula and Library changes compiled, tested and verified before go-live.

After go-live

  • Post-go-live stabilization: Batch Manager schedules, tenant settings, integrations and recurring errors.
  • Report printing from workspace widgets and the back office, without a Cognos, Birst, Crystal or SSRS license.
  • Publishing O&R data to Infor Data Lake, with record counts checked in Compass against O&R after each publish.
  • Testing for each April and October release, so new features are checked before they become mandatory.

Deliverables

What your agency receives.

  • A written readiness report with findings and effort estimates.
  • Every configuration item classified: runs as is, needs a mechanical change, gets rebuilt with a cloud feature, needs redesign, or is no longer needed.
  • A report map with each SSRS, Crystal and Ad Hoc report assigned a cloud report type and sized.
  • A review of roles and rights, so security carries over intentionally.
  • For changes made during the engagement, a step list for your team and a log of every change, each with a restore plan.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Is the readiness review free?

For agencies running Infor O&R on-premises, the review is offered as a complimentary multi-tenant assessment covering workflows, formulas and libraries, custom DLLs, and reports.

Does this replace the migration plan from Infor or our implementation partner?

No. It complements that plan with findings taken from your configuration, and eClas works alongside internal IT teams and implementation partners.

Do you work with legacy IPS and Hansen as well as O&R?

Yes. The practice spans the full product lineage, from legacy Hansen and on-premises IPS through Infor Operations and Regulations in the cloud.

Is the work remote?

Yes, remote-first. Most O&R configuration and support work can be handled through secure remote access.

How can we contract for it?

Time and materials, scoped deliverables, or staff augmentation. eClas is also available for Texas DIR DBITS engagements.
